Villa Domergue
The painter Jean-Gabriel Domergue's Art Deco villa and terraced gardens, left to the city
The painter Jean-Gabriel Domergue bought land in La Californie in 1926 and designed this villa himself – first called Villa Fiesole, after a Tuscan villa he had seen near Florence – built in 1929 by the architects Émile Molinié and Charles Nicod. His wife, the sculptor Odette Maugendre-Villers, laid out the terraced Mediterranean gardens, pools and cascades.
She left the estate to the city of Cannes in 1973. The villa has been an inscrit historic monument since 19 September 1990.
Villa Domergue is a museum on Avenue Fiesole in La Californie & Montfleury. The bus stop La Vista is 250 m away (about 4 min on foot).
