The Vieux-Port has served sailors since Antiquity. Its oldest part is the Quai Saint-Pierre, opened in 1838 along the foot of the Suquet; the harbour now spreads over 23 hectares, 15 of them water, between the quay, the Suquet and the Palais des Festivals.
