Domaine des Colombières
Ferdinand Bac's Mediterranean synthesis of house and gardens above Garavan, from 1920

The estate lies about a hundred metres above the bay of Garavan, on the slope below the motorway. The philosopher Alfred Fouillée built the first house in 1903; from 1920 the artist Ferdinand Bac reshaped house and gardens with a free hand, his most accomplished work – not a period reconstruction, he wrote, but a synthesis of the forms born of the Mediterranean.
The whole estate, buildings, decoration, gardens, follies and statues, has been classé since 3 October 1991.
Domaine des Colombières is a castle on Route de Super Garavan in Menton. The station Menton - Garavan is 250 m away (about 4 min on foot).
