Château des Grimaldi
A keep of the late tenth century over the village, held by the Grimaldi for centuries

Conrad I, Count of Ventimiglia, raised the castle at the end of the tenth century to keep the Saracens from settling again. At first a single fortress held the keep and the village inside one wall with six fortified gates; in the fifteenth century the keep took the name of castle, and the rest became the village, whose vaulted lanes keep their medieval character.
The Grimaldi reworked it and brought in artillery. It was lived in until 1800 and has been an inscrit historic monument since 28 February 1927; from the upper artillery platform the view takes in the roofs of the village, the cape, Monaco and Mont Agel.
Château des Grimaldi is a castle on Rue Moncollet in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. The station Direction Marseille is 550 m away (about 8 min on foot).
