Domaine des Trois Moulins de la Valmasque
A mill estate on a Roman aqueduct, with a garden of ancient and Eastern references

At Les Clausonnes, on the border of Valbonne and Vallauris, stand the remains of the Roman aqueduct of Antipolis, which crossed the stream on a two-arched bridge in the first century. In the eighteenth century, perhaps earlier, the Valmasque was diverted to drive a mill, first for flour, then for oil; it keeps all its machinery.
Between 1935 and 1970 the mill became a house and the estate a pleasure garden with sculptures, jars and box topiary, later given ancient and Eastern references round a temple of Mithras. It has been an inscrit historic monument since 22 February 2010.
Domaine des Trois Moulins de la Valmasque is a listed building in Vallauris. The bus stop Foyer le Roc is 450 m away (about 7 min on foot).
