One kilometre north-east of Vallauris, at 249 metres, the Encourdoules was an important Ligurian centre, dating from the late third or early second century BC and lived in until the fourth century AD. A wall of large blocks, over two metres thick, enclosed about a hectare, entered by an overlapping gate.

Under Augustus the village spilled beyond the wall to two hectares; digs in 2002–2005 found houses with presses for wine and olive oil. It is protected as an inscrit historic monument.

Oppidum les Encourdoules (Cordula) is an archaeological site in Vallauris. The bus stop Cigalière is 250 m away (about 4 min on foot).
