The citadel is a «pre-Vauban» fortress of the early seventeenth century on the hill above the town, and it holds the museum of maritime history of Saint-Tropez. The town bought it from the State in 1993 and has been restoring it since.

Its keep has been a classé historic monument since 12 December 1921 and its enceinte since 4 July 1995. From the foot of the ramparts the view runs over the town, the gulf and the Massif des Maures.

Citadelle de Saint-Tropez is a fort in Saint-Tropez. The ferry landing Saint-Tropez is 450 m away (about 7 min on foot).
