The place
The botanist Gustave Thuret, famous for his work on seaweed, came south for his health and created this garden on the Cap in 1858 to see which exotic plants could live on the Riviera. It is still a research site of INRAE, and its 3.5-hectare botanical garden – a «jardin remarquable» – is the part open to the public: a quiet walk among trees from every warm corner of the world.
Good to know. Chemin Gustave-Raymond, on the Cap. Only the garden is open; check its days on INRAE’s page.
