The place
The covered market of the Cours Masséna – the old «Place Vieille», renamed in 1860 – has fed the town since farmers came to sell here at the start of the nineteenth century; its metal hall dates from 1928. Cheese from the mountains, cut flowers, olives, spices and the produce of the market gardeners fill it every morning. In the afternoon the same hall turns over to painters, sculptors and ceramists.
Good to know. Every morning from 7.30 am, except Mondays from September to May; the artists’ market runs in the afternoon (Friday to Sunday out of season, Thursday to Sunday from mid-June to September).
