The place
A natural harbour since antiquity in the Anse Saint-Roch, it was given a first dyke in the sixteenth century, a jetty in 1648 and Vauban’s works from the 1680s. Today it is a marina of 25 hectares and more than 1,500 berths, with the fishermen still at the old quay below the walls and, since 1986, an outer quay for yachts of up to 165 metres. Walk the quays at dusk, from the Porte Marine to the Bastion Saint-Jaume.
Good to know. The quays are open to walkers; the Quai des Milliardaires leads to the Bastion Saint-Jaume and Nomade.
