Palais Carnolès
The Grimaldi princes' summer trianon of 1717–1725, now the fine-arts museum

On land bought from the monks of Lérins in 1717, Prince Antoine I of Monaco built a summer palace in the manner of a trianon, inspired by the Grand Trianon, surrounded by orchards; the plans are traditionally said to have come from Jacques V Gabriel, and the French architect Jean Antoine Latour, working in Monaco, altered them. It was finished in 1725.
It now houses Menton's Musée des Beaux-Arts, and its garden holds the largest collection of citrus trees in Europe.
Palais Carnolès is a museum on Avenue de la Madone in Menton. The station Carnolès is 750 m away (about 11 min on foot).
