Musée des Beaux Arts
The city's fine-art museum, in a Genoese-Renaissance villa begun for a Russian princess

The city's museum of fine arts is named after the poster artist Jules Chéret, who died in Nice in 1932, and holds a large collection of his work. Its villa, in the manner of the Italian Renaissance, was begun from 1878 for Princess Élisabeth Kotchoubey, sold unfinished in 1883 to James Livingston Thompson and completed by the Niçois architect Constantin Scala.
The city bought the villa in 1925 to house its museum.
