The building
The sailors’ chapel on the top of the Cap is a fourteenth-century church in the Provençal Romanesque style, listed since 1926. It has two naves and two Madonnas – Notre-Dame de la Garde and Notre-Dame de Bon-Port, the patron of Antibes’s sailors, who holds a three-master in her hand – and some 300 ex-votos left by those who came back from the sea. The altarpiece of 1710 is by Joseph Dolle.
Good to know. Beside the lighthouse, on the Garoupe plateau; a café terrace under the pines behind it.
