Hôtel Negresco
The pink-domed palace hotel of 1912 on the Promenade des Anglais

Henri Negresco, born Alexandru Negrescu in Romania, had run the Municipal Casino before he built his own hotel; he hired Édouard-Jean Niermans, architect of the café society, who designed the pink dome, and opened it in 1912. The great window of the Salon Royal is Niermans's work, not Eiffel's, whatever the legend says.
Its façades and roofs and the Salon Royal with its glass roof have been listed historic monuments since 13 June 2003, and its restaurant, Le Chantecler, holds a MICHELIN star.
