Sainte-Réparate is the cathedral of the diocese of Nice. The present building went up between 1650 and 1699, the year it was consecrated, on Place Rossetti in the heart of the old town; it replaced the cathedral of Sainte-Marie that stood on the Castle Hill until the fortress cut it off from the town.

It has been a classé historic monument since 9 August 1906 and was made a minor basilica in 1949.
