The building
Antibes was a bishopric from the fifth century until 1244, and its former cathedral – also called Notre-Dame-de-la-Platea – is still the largest church in town. The carved doors of 1710 are by the Antibes sculptor Joseph Dolle, with Saint Roch and Saint Sebastian, the town’s protectors; inside hangs the Rosary altarpiece painted by Louis Bréa in 1515. The church, the Chapelle Saint-Esprit and the Grimaldi tower beside it have been listed together since 1945.
Good to know. Beside the Château Grimaldi, at the top of the old town. A place of worship – visits outside services.
