About Juan-les-Pins

Juan-les-Pins was born on 12 March 1882 as a new quarter of Antibes, among pines and fine sand facing south to the Lérins islands. It became a summer resort in the 1920s, when Édouard Baudoin reopened the casino and the American Frank Jay Gould built Le Provençal; F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald spent a summer in the Villa Saint-Louis, today the Hôtel Belles Rives. Sidney Bechet married here in 1951.

Jazz à Juan was founded in July 1960 and plays every summer in the Pinède Gould, where the handprints of its musicians line the path. Along the Promenade du Soleil, the public beaches run west towards Golfe-Juan, with a night market every evening in July and August; the Palais des Congrès by Jean-Jacques Ory was completed in 2013, and the Juana, built in 1931, keeps its Art Deco lines.
